Embark on an unforgettable 16-day Island Peak Expedition (6,189m/20,305ft) that combines high-altitude mountaineering with the classic trekking experience of the Everest region. This adventure allows you to summit one of Nepal’s most iconic climbing peaks while exploring the breathtaking landscapes of the Khumbu Valley.
Island Peak—officially renamed Imje Tse in the 1980s—still remains widely known by its original name. The peak was first called Island Peak in 1952 because of its unique position in the middle of the Chhukung valley, appearing like an island floating in a sea of ice.
The mountain features a striking, heavily glaciated west face that rises from the mighty Lhotse Glacier. Although the final ascent requires good physical preparation and basic mountaineering skills, the reward is extraordinary. From the summit, climbers are greeted with 360-degree panoramic views of some of the world’s tallest peaks, including Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Baruntse, and the entire Imja Valley.
Perfect for both trekkers and beginner climbers, the Island Peak Expedition offers the ideal blend of Himalayan culture, adventure trekking, and peak climbing—making it one of the most sought-after climbing trips in Nepal.
